Keeping Your RV Cool
Summer is by far the most popular season for RV camping, but sweltering conditions can make it more difficult to enjoy your trip. Luckily, there are a ton of things that you can do to help beat the heat. Use this guide from Sterling Trailer Sales to help keep comfortable while RV camping in warm weather.
Utilize Your Location
When you’ve reached your campsite, take a second to get a feel for the local wind patterns. If possible, try to orient your camper so that when the breeze blows, it cools down the inside of your RV. It’s also useful to have screens on your RV’s windows. That way, you’ll be able to open them without unintentionally letting insects inside! If possible, you should also park your RV near trees to provide a bit of natural shade. If there are no suitable trees nearby, use a tarp or awning to create your own shade.
Optimize Your RV
Another way that you can help keep your RV cool in hot weather is by optimizing your camper’s cooling system. By cleaning out the vents and swapping out filters as needed, you can ensure that the cooling system is able to work at peak efficiency. You can also install insulating covers to help keep harsh sunlight out of your RV.
Electronics
Your RV’s electronics and appliances can be a huge source of heat. Try to minimize using these appliances during the hottest hours of the day. That goes for other electronic devices such as televisions and laptops as well. If your RV has a built-in fridge, take steps to keep the vents clear and ensure that everything is functioning as intended.
